First Annual Dennis O'Hern Key Club Scholarship

Congratulations to our El Dorado High School key club members who received the Dennis O'Hern Scholarship. Their hard work and volunteer spirit has been a wonderful addition to our community and we wish them all the best in their future successes!

Winners: Ian Britton, Alyson Tsai, Emily Allsup, Hannah Lee, Allyson Weisel, Jamie Weisel

We would like to warmly thank the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund for awarding scholarships to the following students from El Dorado Key Club in recognition of their hard work and dedication: Allyson Weisel (Glenn & Millie Muggelberg Memorial Scholarship) and Jamie Weisel (Kenneth C. Forror, MD Scholarship). These girls do so much for our youth Kiwanis Key Club and we know great things will blossom in their futures!

Since 1980, the Cal-Nev-Ha Children’s Fund has awarded scholarships to our district’s well-deserving Service Leadership Program (SLP) members who demonstrate exceptional leadership, service to their school and community, academic ability, and are active members of their SLP clubs.

Thanks again to Cal-Nev- Ha and congratulations to Allyson and Jamie!

Key Club Logo

Throughout March, El Dorado Key Club High School members collected donations of sanitary items, chocolate bunnies, Easter candy, and toys to put together Easter Baskets for the Friendly Center. 35 baskets were assembled with a contribution from the Kiwanis Club of Placentia Foundation towards the Friendly Center’s 1,000 basket goal. They will be given to children of low income throughout Anaheim and Orange.

16 additional baskets were given to the Placentia Library as prizes for their annual Easter Eggcitement. 11 Key Club members also served in-person at the library’s event to help pass out goodie bags, take pictures, set up/clean up, and decorate the drive-thru area. Our Key Club members were able to accomplish about 130 service hours in March while contributing towards a Happy Easter for many families in our community!

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

The Placentia Kiwanis Club was able to help the team in their victory by providing $1000 for the rental of Placentia’s Tynes gym for their required 10 week training prior to the games.  Exercise and player skills lead to their success.

Pumpkin Carving with LOT318

The Kiwanis Club joined in the fun at the annual LOT318 pumpkin carving. Each member helped a child stay safe while carving and see their creative ideas come to life! Prizes were awarded to the most original designs.

2021 President

Shopping Spree

Kiwanis is happy to announce another successful back to school shopping spree. This event pairs each child in need with a volunteer companion and $100 to spend on new clothing essentials for school. Children this year came from the LOT318 summer program in Placentia. Special thanks to JCPenney, Mandel Jewelers and Kiwanis Aktion Club for making it possible to support this many kids. It is truly wonderful to see so many young ones light up when they recognize how their community cares for them.

Nearly all of the Aktion Club members are also Special Olympics athletes.  Friday, May 31st, one of our members participated in the Placentia portion of the Law Enforcement Torch Run.  Stops during the 5 mile Run in Placentia included Tuffree Middle, George Key and Golden Schools.  Stephanie Hardy, Aktion’s Secretary ran most of the way.  The Torch Run is a major sponsor of Special Olympics Worldwide."
